(Reuters) – Herve Renard has emphasised the significance of crew spirit since taking on as coach of the French ladies’s crew and the squad will profit from his drive and willpower heading into the World Cup, midfielder Amel Majri mentioned.

Renard was appointed in March to steer France on the Girls’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand after he resigned as head coach of the Saudi Arabia males’s crew.

Renard, who was on the helm when the Saudis pulled off a shock group-stage win over eventual champions Argentina on the males’s World Cup in Qatar final 12 months, impressed Majri when he was coach of the Morocco males’s crew from 2016-19.

“I used to be pondering, wow, he’ll be like that with us,” Majri advised FIFA+ on Thursday. “I used to be actually wanting ahead to working with him and seeing what he would deliver to the nationwide crew.

“As for his strategy, I would say it centres on solidarity above all. He retains reminding us that no matter what we do, we can’t succeed with out our crew mates. Staff spirit is his message and creed.”

The French federation employed Renard as a substitute for Corinne Diacre, whose place turned untenable after captain Wendie Renard mentioned she wouldn’t play on the World Cup if the coach remained in cost.

France, who misplaced within the quarter-finals of the 2019 Girls’s World Cup on house soil, are in Group F on the July 20-Aug. 20 match together with Jamaica, Brazil and Panama.

Majri, 30, mentioned there have been no straightforward video games at this stage.

“Brazil and Jamaica – that seems like a tricky proposition. Panama, I do know much less about, but it surely’s not going to be straightforward,” she added.

“Today, there are not any extra small groups at this stage, everybody might be hungry to attain one thing. I can not look forward to it to begin.”
