ALKMAAR, Netherlands (Reuters) – Household and mates of West Ham United gamers, celebrating their success in Thursday’s Europa Convention League semi-final within the Netherlands, had been attacked by AZ Alkmaar supporters on the closing whistle, Dutch media reported.

AZ supporters broke by a fence and attacked the West Ham contingent seated in a reserved part on the AZ Stadium. A brawl ensued by which West Ham gamers, together with captain Declan Rice, tried to intervene, the Algemeen Dagblad (advert.nl) added.

Police and stewards had been shortly on the scene to stop additional confrontation and calm was restored 10 minutes later.
