Guillermo del Toro wins greatest animated characteristic movie for ‘Pinocchio’

LOS ANGELES, March 12 (Reuters) – Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinocchio” gained the Academy Award for greatest animated characteristic movie on Sunday, the third Oscar of his profession.

The haunting stop-motion musical fantasy was impressed by the 1883 Italian novel “The Adventures of Pinocchio” by Carlo Collodi, and knowledgeable by Gris Grimly’s illustrations of the 2002 version of the e book.

Del Toro, 58, reimagines the basic story of Pinocchio, a picket puppet who goals of being an actual boy, who’s cared for by carver Geppetto.

Nevertheless, the story of the Netflix Inc movie is ready in Fascist Italy throughout the interwar interval and World Conflict Two.

“Pinocchio” prevailed over different standard nominees A24’s stop-motion movie “Marcel the Shell With Sneakers On” and the Walt Disney Co 3D animated movie “Turning Purple.”

Del Toro has many accolades, together with his 2018 Oscar wins for greatest image and greatest director for “The Form of Water.”

The Guadalajara-born filmmaker’s works are recognized for his or her infusion of fairy-tale magic, horror motifs, themes of Roman Catholicism, grotesque imagery and use of each Spanish and English.
