Acadia Axemen full sweep to advance to AUS hockey semifinal

WOLFVILLE, N.S. — The Acadia Axemen are off to the Atlantic College Sport (AUS) hockey semifinals.
Conor McCollum made 28 saves to backstop Acadia to a 4-1 win over the St. F.X. X-Males Feb. 17 in Wolfville to finish the sweep of the best-of-three quarter-final.
Corson Hopwo, Keegan Stevenson, captain Jack Flaman and Liam Kidney scored for Acadia, which constructed 2-0 and 3-1 interval leads. Cole Nagy, Peyton Hoyt, Brendan Sellan, Reilly Webb, Merrick Rippon and Kidney every had an help.

Adam Holwell from Matthew Struthers and Liam Hawel replied for the guests. Joseph Raaymakers stopped 29 pictures within the loss.
St. F.X. was 1-for-8 on the facility play whereas Acadia went 0-for-4 with the person benefit.
Acadia (11-16-2-1), which completed fifth within the seven-team convention, knocked off the fourth-ranked X-Males (16-13-1-0). The Axemen now wait to see who wins the opposite quarter-final to find out who they’ll play within the best-of-five semifinal.
Sixth-place Moncton leads third-ranked UPEI 1-0 with Recreation 2 going Saturday, Feb. 18. A UPEI win will drive a win-and-advance Recreation 3 on Monday, Feb. 20.
Prime-ranked UNB will get the bottom remaining seed with Saint Mary’s taking part in the opposite group that advances.
